Memorial Day 2013

Memorial Day, a day to remember those who died while in the service. A solemn day, if you actually get past the three day weekend, the BBQ's, camping and party's. I don't believe that I know anyone personally in my family that served or died in any past war.

The picture above is from the cemetery that my dad is in. I don't know anyone in this area, but you can see that the flags are placed at the stones of those who served.
Arlington
I would love to visit Arlington someday. Emily was fortunate to see it this spring.
There will never be enough words to express the feeling you get when you think about history and all the lives that were lost. Where would we be without it? Would life be the same? No one will ever know. Did you ever wish you could go back in time, even for a moment, just to see? Maybe we don't want to see. Reading it in history book would be good enough.

I hope every one had a wonderful weekend.

Playing with close ups.

Lilac

Geranium
Took a moment to play with the camera a bit. Think most pics turned out ok. A whole lot better than the other camera.
White lilac, the only bud on the bush

Geranium
There is really not much else to say. It has been a warm day and I was almost tempted to turn on the air, because you have to make sure it works before it gets really hot. ;)
I don't know what this is, Lantana maybe?

One of my favorites, Snapdragons.

Happy Mother's Day

It turned out to be colder than what is considered normal for Mother's Day. But hey, the sun was shining.

More pictures of flowers, The bouquet is from my husband. He knows I like mixed flowers.

The flat of geraniums are from my daughter, along with one of my favorite flowers, snapdragons.

This nice huge hanging plant is from me! It was hard to choose between so many that they had there.

I also got Luna vacuumed and washed.

So it was a great day for me!

Hope all you mother's out there had a great day as well.

Farewell Line 2

Some people can do change, others can't. I am one of those people that have a hard time with change. I like security and knowing things are constant on a day to day basis. A few weeks ago it surprised me that I posted for another job. Different line. I really don't know what possessed me to do so, or even accept the job, but it is done and I am going to make the best of it.

I don't regret my decision, it's just that I have been on the same line for over 10 years. It was time for a change. My ultimate hope and that changing direction a little bit will not leave me so worn down at the end of the day. I don't know if this will change though, but I hope.

I certainly will miss the workers, well most of them. I will most certainly miss being under the watch of Ms Michele and Ms Gerry. :) The flowers above are from Michele. Isn't she sweet. Well that fact that I had to practically BEG for them. She told me that the only flowers she will get me will be put on my grave. Are you trying to tell me something here? Thank You!

There has been many angry moments, accompanied by tears. (Mainly me) But that is overshadowed by the smiles and laughter. And we had a lot of laughter. Years from now when all my co-workers are sitting in their rocking chairs, barely being able to remember their own name, my name will still be on their lips and shaking their head.

Wanted: Pontoon

We were at a place yesterday that was near Lake Puckaway. It was so quite, and the little waves were hitting the shore.

This got me to thinking that I would really like to be out on a boat, pontoon. I am going to have to do that sometime this summer.

Happy Birthday Kevin

Yesterday my brother in laws birthday. He turned 43 I believe. I couldn't be there to celebrate his birthday at one of his favorite restaurants, but we did stop at the camper on our way to Menards. Mike had bought a donut, with the intent to put a candle on it. Well I wanted to put the whole box of 24 candles on it, and succeeded. Sort of.

What started out as a kinda funny idea turned into a burning fiasco, I am sure that if you are reading this you are thinking to yourself, well duh! If I would have thought it out better it would have been ok. Like taking it to Kevin and then lighting it. But no, we wanted to light it before he got it. See the paper towel under it, well the wind blew that up into the candle. Quickly distinguished, we then used a plate...a Styrofoam plate. I know you are smacking yourself in the head now. I know it would have still been ok if I could have lit all the candles faster, but I couldn't, and so one hot drop of wax from the first lit candle and....
...donut tar tar. Went up in flames faster than I could throw it in the ground. I never claimed to be a genius. LOL.

All in all I believe he had a good time. His granddaughters were there so that always makes him smile.

Emily at the Midwest Horse Fair

Emily and Judy
This weekend was the Midwest Horse Fair and Emily was in the Donkey and Mule section. She was supposed to ride a donkey named Darla, but she had an issue, so she ended up riding Judy.

Judy was not so calm when it came to the crowd clapping. In fact she didn't like it at all. I am glad that Emily was able to handle Judy, because she took off in a fit.

Other wise they had a cute little baby that was only 5 weeks old.

Taking a stroll around the arena.
There were hundreds of vendors in the exhibition hall. They were selling everything. Of course saddles and tack, combs, reigns, just about everything that you needed for a horse. But then they has boots and clothing. Purses. Just about everything. I know I didn't even make it through the whole area. I was trying to find a nice purse, but I just couldn't find the right one. I am so picky when it comes to purses.

Emily controlling Judy after she freaked.
Although it was windy, and it started out snowy and cool, the sun did come out and it turned out to be a nice afternoon.
